Kentucky

Last week the children and I took off for Kentucky.  The weather was beautiful the whole time we were gone.  Glad we didn't wait to go this week!

 We went to the Creation Museum a couple of days.  It was wonderful!  They change shows and speakers each day so it was hard to get it all in.  The speakers we heard were great.  I love doing things like this that grow my children's faith.

The petting zoo.  "Gomer" the camel was quite friendly! :o)

 I told them to act scared.  I love Malachi's expression! :o)
 Matthew slaying the dinosaur with a six inch pocket knife. :o)

I spent about half of my childhood living in Cincinnati.  We decided one evening that we would take off and  go see my house and schools.  Thank goodness for GPS!  I would not have made it!  The kids thought it was neat to see the place that many of my stories come from.

The house we lived in from my 4th grade year until the middle of my 11th.

 Our next stop was to visit my sister and her family.  My sister had a new baby in September and we were all anxious to see her!  She is a little doll!

Myles loved Annie! Not sure that the feeling was mutual! :o)  (He had chili all over his face.)

Malachi and Lily Kate
 Some of the boys trying to look tough. :o)

 The girls had so much fun visiting.

Getting ready to head home.

The kids were all sad that the visit was over but memories were made.

Sunday Morning

It is a quiet Sunday morning and I am at home with Myles.  We were out of town this week visiting family in Kentucky (pictures to come :o) and Marc was out of town with work.  He took the older kids to a church here in town since everyone was so tired.

We are kind of in between churches right now.  This has certainly been a hard year and one full of changes for our family!  We have been a part of a family integrated church for almost thirteen years.  All but 2 1/2 of those years (when we lived too far away) were spent at the same church.  It has been hard making the change, especially on our children.  God has clearly been showing us for at least the past year that He was leading us away.  When the vision for your family doesn't match the direction the church is going, it is time for a change.  It doesn't make it easy though....

We have visited another family-integrated church that is almost an hour away.  Our old church was almost an hour and a half away, so the distance isn't a problem. :o)   There is another FIC church that is a little closer that we are going to visit sometime.  The timing of it all has been hard with all that we have had going on in our family.  I know the Lord is in control though and we will see His hand in all of it down the road.

Fall...

I think I like fall almost as much as spring!  I love open windows, fall decorations and burning candles in the evenings!

"Look mama!  I caught a chicken!" :o)

 It is that time of year again.... Pecans!!!

 The weather has been so nice that we still have flowers blooming.

 Cotton harvesting will begin across the street soon.  Myles loves watching the tractors.

 Happy Fall!!!

25 Weeks

I can't believe I am already 25 weeks into this pregnancy!  It is going by really fast.  I am not one that loves being pregnant, but I think after having miscarriages you don't take things for granted.  I remember at the end of my pregnancy with Myles, I was kind of sad thinking that it could be my last pregnancy.  My favorite time of day is when I crawl into the bed at night to read and the baby moves around.  Mariah loves feeling it kick and thinks it is really funny when it has the hiccups!

I had a scare the other night.  McKenzie and I went walking and it was right as it was getting dark.  We live in the country, so night walking isn't something we do very often!  We got down the road and saw something in the cow field (and it wasn't a cow!)  I told her that we needed to turn around and right as we did it chased us!  The mama in me came out and I grabbed McKenzie's arm to start running.  I don't know what I was thinking because she would have been better off without me!  She ended up tripping and I fell on top of her.  We both started screaming and it startled the animal and it stopped and turned back around.  We aren't positive what it was but think it was a panther.  It was really creepy!

The next day I had my regular appointment with my midwife. I was a little bit worried about the baby, but everything seems to be fine.  The heart beat was strong and he/she is moving around a lot!  I hate that I almost crushed McKenzie, but I sure am glad the baby is ok! :o)

Voting...

Five lawful responses by the Christian at the ballot box:
  1. Vote for a biblically qualified Republican;
  2. Vote for a biblically qualified Democrat;
  3. Vote for a biblically qualified third party candidate or independent;
  4. Write-in a biblically qualified candidate; or
  5. In the absence of any biblically qualified independents, party candidates, or write-in candidates, withhold your vote as an act of integrity before the Lord. Not an option for the Christian is to represent Christ in the ballot box by rejecting His biblically-revealed minimal threshold requirements for the selection of a civil magistrate.  ~Doug Phillips

Fair 2012

 The fair has been in town this week and our family always goes a couple of times.  The girls entered lots of canning and Madeline did some sewing and knitting this year.

Both girls placed in all of their canning entries.  This is Madeline's scuppernong.  She got first on her plum jelly too. :o)  This was her first year canning by herself.

 The little pink and purple pillow is Madeline's, she got second on it.

 We entered a soap carving contest so we could get free entry one of the days.  Last year Matthew won first place and Mariah got third.  Nobody placed this year.  Matthew and Malachi were the only ones that took it seriously.  Malachi almost lost his mind over his!  He is such a perfectionist!
 Madeline really excited about carving soap. :o)

"A chip, mama."
 Watching the horse shows.
 Mariah with the "Tree of Life".

I love the  lights at night!
We enjoyed the fair and now we are ready for it to go, so our little town will be quiet again! :o)
