Myles and "Wonder"

Myles has had a good week!  He lost his first tooth....

 

and he got a new cow! :o)  Meet "Wonder" the blind calf.

We got her as sort of a project for Myles  Something to keep him busy and to be responsible for.  We had the hopes of having some meat in the freezer eventually, but Myles thinks differently.  The other day I told him we could get him a kitten when we put the cow in the freezer and he said, "No, we can just put cat meat in the freezer. I want you to leave Wonder alone."

When she first got here she wouldn't let anyone near her.  Myles (and the other children) are all over her now.  Of course, she is skittish when she gets startled because she can't see.

Myles is such a funny, busy and mischievous little boy.  We bought him the first season of "Dennis the Menace" and we nicknamed him, "Myles the Menace". :o)
The other day Marc took him for a walk by himself.  The conversations when you just take one child off by themselves are so precious. 
What do you want to be when you grow up?  "I want to chew big boy chewing gum."
Favorite color? "Red"
Favorite restaurant?  "Barberitos"
Favorite trains?  "James and Connor"
Favorite thing to do?  "Play football"
He then added that when he grows up he wants to build Barnabas (his dog) a big doghouse! :o)

I was irritable the other day putting clothes away in the boys' room.  He doesn't like for me to be mad and he said, "Mommy, you are so cute."  I said,  "Are you a charmer?"  Without missing a beat he very innocently asked, "Are you a grouch?"

I sure love this little boy!

Friday night ramblings...

It has been a crazy week!  Some of it was good and some of it was just way too  hectic!

We got back from our trip to Atlanta and I thought I would have Thursday to recover.  I checked the calendar (I live by my calendar!) and realized I had a doctors appointment!  I thought about canceling it, but our annual checkups are the ONLY thing our insurance is good for!  It covers the entire family 100% for well appointments. (It is the other stuff that they stick you with!)

I got up Thursday morning and started my morning routine of laundry, mopping and starting kids on school work.  I darted out the door to run and by the time I got back I had to shower and head to my appointment.  That pretty much ate up the day.  Today I had to babysit for a little boy I keep some.  He isn't any trouble (besides being another BOY in the house!) and it is nice to have some spending money! :o)  All of the boys were pretty wild today. Not sure how much of it was them or me being tired from the crazy week, but it was a zoo all morning.  When the grandparents picked him up I headed to town to run some errands by myself.  We have been looking at flooring options and I was headed to a flooring store that was going out of business to purchase some carpet.  After I wrote the check I went to the van and changed my mind!  I had tried to tell  myself that I liked it because it was going to save us about $500 on the job, but it was much lighter than I really wanted.  I felt like an idiot, but I marched back in a minute later and told them I changed my mind!  I had really had it by that point and I called Marc and told him I wanted to go have a pedicure!  He told me to go ahead and Madeline got supper fixed.  While I was having my nails done Marc called to tell me one of our goats died today.  We aren't sure what happened, but she either ate something poisonous or choked.  Anyone that says goats have iron stomachs and can eat anything have never owned goats!  They can be fine one minute and dead the next!  Unfortunately, it was one of our better goats.  Just thankful it wasn't one of our registered ones!

 

 

We love pumpkin bread in the fall, but I get tired of the chocolate chips in them sometimes.  I found this recipe a few months ago and we all love them!  I like using coconut oil as much as I can.

Ingredients:

• 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
• 2 eggs
• 1 15 ounce can pure pumpkin puree
• 1/2 cup coconut oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix wet ingredients and then add dry.  Bake in greased muffin pan 20 minutes on 375.

Ingredients:

 

*I used fresh ground whole what and sucanat in mine.  I want to try it with coconut flour next time and see how it turns out.   The picture makes them look dry but they were not.

Missing Summer...

We just got back from another trip to Stone Mountain.  Marc had another business trip that we tagged along on.  The weather wasn't nearly as pretty this time, but we made the best of it.  I love summer and I am already missing it! 

 

I was uploading pictures to my computer this evening and went back and looked at some old files.  I came across these that McKenzie took a few months ago after the wheat was harvested from across the street.

 

We have had more fun playing in that field!  After they harvested the wheat they planted cotton.  They should be harvesting that soon, so the boys will be watching all of the machinery soon!

Macheus loves his "Bubbie"!  (Bubbie is pretty crazy about Macheus too.  He likes to say he is spoiled rotten and calls him "K-rot", but he is as guilty as anyone for that!)

I miss the carefree days of summer!

Georgia National Fair 2015

Here are just a few pictures from our days at the fair!

 

Serious about the soap carving contest!  Matthew and Mariah have actually won first place before, but we didn't have a winner this year. :o)

McKenzie, Madeline and Mariah all entered canned goods and dried herbs.  All three got some first place ribbons!

They also entered some sewing, knitting and other craft projects.  My girls got their craftiness from their grandma!

My dad hung with us form lunch time until they closed that night at 10:00!  I was a little worried he was going to be sore the next day!  I made him take a Tylenol and soak his feet when we got home!  Matthew said, "If grandpa lived with you, he'd probably live to be 100!" :o)
