Happy 10th Birthday, Malachi!

Malachi David was born on Wednesday, September 13th, 2006.  He was the much prayed for baby brother for Matthew!

His last night being a single digit! I always get a little sad when my children go to bed the night before their birthday.  Childhood goes by way too fast!

He is at such a great age right now!  He isn't a little kid that needs so much, but he is still sweet and innocent! :)  He was SO hard from 3-4 that it amazes me that he is such an easy boy now!

As always, I let the birthday kid pick out their meal and dessert.  He wanted French dip sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, green beans (and I added a salad!)  For dessert he wanted ice cream pie!  (Can you say rich!) He wanted to help me make it. :)

Ice Cream Pie:

Crush 21 Oreos, 1/2 cup unsalted peanuts and then mix in one stick of butter.  Press into a pie pan and freeze for 15 minutes.

Soften Breyers Natural vanilla ice cream and mix with chopped Reese Cups.  Spread on pie crust and freeze.

You can serve with hot fudge sauce and whipped topping.

Marc has been working really long hours lately.  He surprised Mal and came home early to take him into the woods to shoot.

I spent the afternoon playing games with him.

Sweet little Elizabeth's first birthday party!  She was passed around the whole evening!

So glad my dad is still around to spend these special days with!

"Pop" and Elizabeth snoozin'! ")

Me with two of my girls!

The traditional sibling birthday picture!  Added the sweet little niece this year!

                                             The "Big 10"!!!

Love this little fellow!  He looks like he is in a sugar coma! :)

He got tools, fishing gear, Legos and boots for his birthday!  He told me he felt "manly". :)

Malachi has been so much fun to raise.  He is a sweet boy, but not a "touchy feely" kid.  He is funny and very dependable!  He has a regular chore list and I rarely have to prod him to get his things done.  He loves the outdoors, guns, knives and Legos!  His strengths are in math and science.  He was a little slower learning how to read than my other children, but once he took off it has been amazing!  He is often found with a new chapter book in his hands.  He is like a sponge right now and often asks to watch documentaries on various subjects!

My prayer for Malachi is that he would always love the Lord with all of his heart, soul, mind and strength.  I love you Malachi!

"And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’This is the first commandment.[And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no other commandment greater than these.” Matthew 12:30-31
