Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankful for......

My husband and children, our new grandbaby, my health and the health of my family, my home, animals that provide for our family, my husband's job, that my father is still here and I have the privilege of caring for him (even when it is hard!), our church, good neighbors, our small town that is safe to roam, my running shoes!, my bed...

I could go on and on, but I need to get busy!

Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Deer Season

Matthew has had a great deer season so far this year!  He went out a couple of weeks ago and brought back these two does. :)

He wanted me to go with him one weekend and I was just too tired (and had too much to do before bedtime.)  I promised him I would go with him on his next available evening which was last Wednesday. I ended up having to take my dad to the doctor that afternoon and was worried I wouldn't get back in time.  I left the doctor, ran into the store for my dad, took him to get something to eat and still managed to get home in time!  I literally ran in and ran back out!

We got in the stand about 4:30 and it didn't take me five minutes to start getting bored.  Every time I whispered he would tell me to be quiet. :) As I sat there watching him watch out the window.  I was  looking at this huge man that still seems like he should be five.  Wondering where the time went....

Now that McKenzie is married, and a mama, she is so much fun to talk to.  Being the oldest kid in the family, her siblings are her heart.  She loves them all dearly, but Matthew was her "buddy".  We often talk about how we have "GOT to love his wife"! :)   So... when I said to her that one day he would take his "girl" hunting and not ask me to go she said, "You've got to go!"  So... a hunting "I" went!

He saw several does come out of the woods and sat patiently waiting on something bigger.  I kept thinking.... just shoot something so we can get out of here!

His patience paid off..... just  a few minutes later an eight point buck came out and he got him!

We climbed out of the stand and went to see his deer.  Took pictures and then he loaded him up on the back of his truck.

When we got home he got busy gutting the deer and getting it on ice...... and I went to take a shower!
Three deer in the freezer so far and VERY thankful for a boy that likes to hunt!

Take me out to the ball game!!!

We went to one of the last Braves games of the season.  It was also one of the last games to be played at Turner Field.  It was kind of sad....

Marc was supposed to have taken the kids, but he had had a really rough week at work. The tickets and parking had already been printed out and ready to go..... so off we went!

Right as we got into Atlanta it started raining.  We had no idea it was supposed to rain and other than one umbrella we were pretty unprepared!

Thankfully the rain eased up and we headed into the park!

Matthew has been a Braves fan since he was big enough to throw a ball.  I took lots of pictures of him throughout the stadium.

The weather was looking  a little "iffy".

We had already eaten supper so we headed on to find our seats.  The crowds were plenty, but not terrible.  We had great seats!

I can't remember what inning, but we were behind and it started to downpour!  I wanted to had home, but Matthew wanted to wait it out!  So....... waiting we did!

I didn't think it was ever going to stop, but it finally did and the game resumed!  The crowds were gone!!!

Mariah hadn't been to a Braves game in years and she had a blast!

The year Matthew was born!

                                                     "Rally cap"

The sky looked so pretty after the rain moved out!

Surprisingly, they came back and WON!

We finally pulled into our driveway around 2:00 AM!  I was tired the next day, but memories made with my kiddos is always worth it!

Civil War Days...

Life is happening a lot faster than I can possibly post on this little blog, but I have some things I want saved on here!  About a month or so ago, our family went to a Civil War reenactment.  We all love American History, and the guys love studying the "war between the states"!

This picture of Macheus is one of my favorites from the day.  He was so worn out! :)  He had also stepped into the creek and one of his shoes was covered in mud! :)

We let the boys pick out one thing.  Malachi and Mac picked out Confederate flats, and Myles picked out an American flag.

Playing by the creek.

This old mill was actually being used to grind corn while we were there.

My sweet fellow. :)

                                                            My girls!  Love them!

They were nonstop all day!

                                             The little drummer boy.

It seems that Matthew is always in class or at work.  It is fun when we can all go somewhere together!

Macheus got bored during the battle, so I took him to walk around.

Matthew thought these stickers were funny..... so he bought them. He put then on his tool box instead of his pickup.  Smart decision. :)

He is never scared of these characters!

A worn out Macheus being carried by his big "Bubbie".  (And he says I spoil him..... :)
