A boy and his dog.......

Well, a boy and his brother's dog. :o)  Buddy is technically Matthew's dog... a chocolate Lab.  Besides the typical chewing problems that go along with Lab puppies, he has been the best dog ever!  We got him last summer when he was just a couple of months old.  He and Myles have become best friends.  Myles stays with him all day long.  The only problem with that is that wherever Buddy wanders, Myles does too. 

 Myles has been caught going where he has been told not to go on several occasions.  He is always quick to blame Buddy.  I have seen Myles follow Buddy,  but I have also watched Buddy follow Myles.

 Last night I watched Myles go back to the barn (he isn't supposed to go that far from the house.)  Buddy was following him when one of our roosters went to attack Myles. Buddy charged the rooster and saved Myles from a spurring!  I have always heard that Labs are protective of children so it was neat to see it in action.

 The field beyond this fence is another "off limits" place that the two of them have wandered.

 I called Myles to the porch and told him it was time for his bath.

Baby's 1st Haircut

Marc came home from work this evening and cracked a joke about Macheus' hair.  He said,  "If you don't hurry up and cut that boy's hair he'll be able to donate to locks of love." Well, it wasn't quite that bad, but I knew it was time.  I have loved his hair because it has some wave to it.  I didn't want to be one of "those" moms though, so I got my scissors, keepsake box and the camera and off to the front porch we went. :o)

I came across this sweet little note that Mariah left on my pillow a few weeks ago.  It had been a pretty rough day and I was feeling overwhelmed.  My favorite line was. "I love you more than a playhouse that I've always dreamed of." :o)

Rainy Day

We have had a pretty mild summer and lots of rain.  It has been nice because everything has stayed green all summer long and we rarely have to water the garden!

 Rainy days make sleepy babies.

 Matthew gets very frustrated when it rains because it means more cutting. :o)  It seems like every time he cuts.......... it rains!

My college boy....

His senior year with home school started last week.  Today he went to orientation for his college classes.  Bittersweet...........As the saying goes......."Long days, short years".
