Sunday morning ramblings...

It is Sunday morning and I am home alone.  Well, Macheus is here but he is fast asleep.  It is a very rare, quiet moment.  Macheus has had a really hard week trying to cut his first molar.  I am worn out and woke up with a  headache so we stayed home.  The rest of the crew went to visit a local country church.  Our favorite place to worship is over an hour away, so we are doing that about every other week.

The summer is speeding by and our days are FULL!  Wedding plans are coming together but it pretty much dominates my mind these days.  Marc and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary last week and it was almost like,  "Oh, it's our anniversary.  I guess we should go out." :o)  We went out to eat and then went............. WEDDING SHOPPING!  We have an overnight trip planned, but because of some things going on at his job we haven't been able to go yet.  Hopefully soon.

Yesterday some out of town friends hosted a bridal shower for McKenzie.  It was close to the town where my mom lived so several of her friends were there.  It was a bittersweet day thinking about how much she would have loved to have been there.  Lots of old friends were there.  It was kind of surreal seeing McKenzie with some of her childhood friends all grown up.  I will post pictures and write more about that on another day.

I have spent my summer trying to clean out and haul things to dump or to Goodwill.  As I clean out, McKenzie brings in. :o)  She has collected household things over her teen years .  Her hope chest overflowed into boxes.  She has been busy packing things up getting it ready to move.  She was sitting in the middle of her bedroom floor with boxes and stuff all around her the other day.  Matthew walked in and said,  'What are you doing!?"  I think it hit him that she is really leaving.  They have always been very close.  The downside to a close knit family is it is hard watching them grow up and move on. :(

We live in a farming community.  It is always fun watching the land across from us to see what they will plant.  Most years it is cotton or peanuts.  This year it was watermelon!  It was neat watching a bee keeper bring his hives out to the field.  We never saw swarms of bees, but it made me a little nervous at first!

They started harvesting the melons this past week.  A crew of Mexicans had quite the routine for loading the buses up!

Matthew is hoping when they finish that some will get left behind and we can glean! :o)  We have done that with the peanuts in the past.

Headed to Wal-Mart.   haha..........

Well, I guess I should go get busy.  I have enjoyed this quiet morning.  I have read my Bible, paid bills and blogged with NO interruptions! :o)  They will be home soon.

I'll be posting shower pictures soon!

Busy Days

You know your life is too busy when you force yourself to go get a pedicure, but then you sit there making a "to do" list while you are having it done.  It seems like every area of our life right now is just so crazy!

This guy keeps our place looking good! :o)

Matthew weeding my out of control flower beds!

Malachi sucking up the baby's cereal.  I honestly think we vacuum up more "Purely O's" than he eats!

(McKenzie being goofy.)
She said "good bye" to Daniel today.  He has a six week mission trip that he has to complete for his degree.  She was a pretty sad girl today but I know the time is going to fly.  We have a ton to do to get ready for the wedding.  Most days I feel like I jump from one thing to the next.  Then at night I lay there and think of all the things that I need to get done.  I am sure that it will get done, but it is a lot of work!

Headed to bed!!!

Father's Day

Father's Day Sunday we took a trip to visit Marc's parents.  It was a hot day but I was thankful for the sunshine and that it didn't rain!

 They rented this jumping house for the kids to play in.  They had so much fun!

Matthew was checking out this 1909 Colt 45 that belonged to his great, great, great grandfather.

Madeline and Myles

Macheus was so good for not getting a nap all day!

Playing horse shoes.

Mariah played badminton with her grandmother.

                                          Marc and his dad.

This was the first father's day in my life that I wasn't with my father. He recently went back to my sister's house.  I couldn't help but think about how much life changes.  It makes you realize that you should really appreciate things because you never know when people will be gone or how much life can change.

 We had a good day visiting with Marc's family. The kids played hard and were exhausted on the way home!

Happy 21st Birthday, McKenzie!

On June 4th, McKenzie turned 21 years old.   I tried not to think about the fact that this was her last birthday living at home. :(

She and I took off for the day to meet the lady that is doing the flowers for the wedding.  It was a very busy but fun day.  We did a little bit of shopping while we were out, and got strawberry-lemonade from Sonic.  I hate that I discovered those!  They are SO yummy!

That evening we came home, loaded everyone up in the van and went out to eat Mexican!  McKenzie has requested Oreo cheesecake every birthday since her sixteenth!  We had it again this year!

                                                            Sisters

This little fellow loves his big sister!  He is going to be one sad little boy come fall.

The little boys were so proud of the measuring cups they gave her! :o)

The crew (except Macheus.  He was already in the bed.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know it is something that mothers say every time one of their children celebrates a birthday, but I do not know where the years have gone!  It doesn't seem possible that McKenzie is already 21 years old and getting married in a few months!  I am so thankful that the Lord blessed us with her.  She was the one that made me a mama. She was the first one that made me realize how deeply you could love another human being.  Only a mother can understand that love that is so fierce that you could HURT someone for them!  We have joked many times that she is our guinea pig.  I'm sure we have made many mistakes in parenting her, but the Lord is merciful and I am very proud of the young lady she has become.
I love you, McKenzie and look forward to seeing what all the Lord has in store for you in the coming year!
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”  Jeremiah 17:7-8
He makes me smile
This little fellow is so inquisitive these days.  He is always asking,  "Who made.....?"  Everything from "our baby" (Macheus), the trees, the animals, houses, cars and the latest today... the road.  When I tried to explain that man made the road out of stuff that God created he then asked,  "Does the Bible say so?"
I was sitting on the floor of my closet the other day going through some papers and he came in and asked me if he could watch Red Ryder.  When I said, "Yes." he said,  "Thank you mommy. You are a fat pig."  I said,  'Thank you Myles."  He said,  "You're welcome."  He hasn't quite figured out what a compliment is yet. :o)
Ever since his hiding episode not too long ago I am very paranoid about knowing where he is at all times.  I am constantly calling,  "Myles where are you?"  His answer is ALWAYS,  "I'm right there mama."  Today he was missing for a few minutes and we found him visiting his grandpa.  I later asked him if grandpa had given him any candy.  He said,  "No.  Would you tell him?  Tell him to share with me. I would say thanks."
He keeps me laughing and keeps me on my toes!
